Poron insoles can really help prevent those blisters.
What is Poron?
PORON® urethane is an open-cell foam used in the development of gaskets, protective gear, footwear, and even within parts of the Hubble Space Telescope.
The flexible material is commonly chosen for its cushioning, padding, compression, and sealing properties. As a material it bounces back and doesn’t “bottom out” like some insoles, lasting a long time, I recently replaced a pair for a patient that he had worn for 10years!
Why do we use poron in the clinic?
As a podiatrist, it is the most amazing material to work with and has helped so many patients, me included. When I became quite ill with a virus that attacked my joints, walking was very painful, and my usual shoes and boots were cast aside as I simply couldn’t wear them. As a Podiatrist and a patient, I had to work out how to walk around without pain and poron insoles, which fast became my saviour!
Poron is very much a podiatrist’s choice of insole for patients, especially those struggling with rheumatoid arthritis. The properties of poron are fantastic for helping the areas of the feet that have lost their natural fatty protective layer, in turn, exposing the joints to an increase of pressure from the ground. By adding a layer of poron, either onto orthotics or straight into the shoe, the pressure is immediately reduced on the skin and joints, bringing with it, much-needed relief.
After wearing poron insoles, my walking improved, and my very stiff big toe joints increased their range of movement, which is another benefit of wearing poron insoles.
How do poron insoles stop blisters from forming under the feet?
Those painful blisters that arrive underneath the feet, especially the ones under the heel or on the “balls of the foot” can easily be prevented with poron insoles. The material, which is naturally shocking absorbing, reduces the amount of shear applied to the skin on the soles of the feet. Poron insoles can be added to the shoes/ boots or used to replace the insole, that is already in the shoes. This is such an easy solution as a blister prevention strategy.
Which Poron insole is the best for stopping blisters?
All poron insoles prevent blisters underneath the feet, it’s just a personal preference, to which insole works well for you, your footwear, and your chosen activity.
Poron Vive can be used when more spring in the step is required and is 4mm in thickness, so suitable for basketball, football, tennis, and rugby where there is less room in the footwear.
Poron Grey and Green High performance are available in 6mm and 3mm thickness and are perfect for when maximum shock absorption is required, the 6mm is suitable for roomy walking boots and trainers and 3mm for when space in the footwear is minimal. The poron green has anti-microbial properties which are suitable for warm and humid conditions.
Podotech poron gel insole is only 3.6mm thick but absorbs more shear than the other poron materials and this is due to the gel part of the insole. This is a perfect combination for when shoe space is at a premium and the maximum reduction of shear is required.
All poron insoles go up to a men’s size 12 and can be cut to the size of your shoe/boot. If your footwear has an insole in already, then just remove it and use it as the perfect template for cutting around the poron.
You can never make a bad choice with Poron, whichever insole you purchase, you will always be happy with your blister- free soles
